The first impression, and a lasting one, that I had upon setting foot on a Galapagos island was the stink of the sea lions. They were lying all over the place and were obviously not toilet trained. The odor was almost overpowering at times. There were lots of cute sea lion pups, some with their mothers, some in nursery holding groups, some just curled up by themselves waiting for mom to return. We could have touched them, but tourists are told not to touch any of the wildlife—to keep it wild. |
